Who We Are

Film Making Club UVic is a hub for aspiring filmmakers at the University of Victoria. We provide a supportive environment and resources for students to learn about the film production skills, from storytelling and script development to cinematography and sound design. Our goal is to nurture creativity and passion for the art of filmmaking, and to create a platform for students to showcase their talent and express their unique perspectives. Most importantly, we're here to have fun, make connections, and enjoy the art of filmmaking.

Our Team

Meet Our Leadership

Nicolas Ihmels

Nic, founder and team leader of the UVic Filmmaking Club, is a screenwriter and founder . Nicfirst became interested in filmmaking after watching Christopher Nolan's Inception as a teenager. Upon coming to UVic, Nic wanted to create a space for other filmmakers, or people interested in filmmaking to come together and create. Nic is a second year Writing major at UVic.

AJ Aiken

AJ's role is to assist with the process of filmmaking from writing a script to editing. She is a graduate of the Digital Production Writing and Design and Digital Communication programs and Camosun College., where she directed the short film entitled "The Real Brew People of Victoria." She is currently a UVic writing and political science major and a research assistant on a PXR XRtist VR storytelling project. 

Ben Colley

Ben's role is to demonstrate and assist with running the equipment during the filmmaking process. He is a graduate of the Digital Production Writing and Design program at Camosun College and was a camera operator on the short film "Real Brew People of Victoria."
